On Tuesday 6rd June, seventy finalist received their School Certificate & Profile and their diploma during a special celebration, presided by Mr Ruben Pace, Director.
The opening prayer consisted of short readings from excerpts taken from the writings of St George Preca. This was then followed by the sharing experiences by ten students, who highlighted some of the events, activities and incidents that they feel where most meaningful during the five scholastic years they spent at our school. The students who shared these experiences were, Benjamin Ellul, Hertian Salameh Cachia, Miguel Taliana u Andrè Delicata – 5 Faith, David Dimech, Clyde Bouvet – 5 Hope, and Omar Elaida Chaffey, Tristan Azzopardi, Keith Attard – 5 Charity.
After the sharing of these experiences, a number of students from this cohort who are also musicians rendered some very nice musical interpretations. Etienne Degabiriele Ferranti played on the piano Chi Mai of Ennio Morricone, David Abela played Chariots of Fire composed by Vangelis and Karl Farrugia played French Suite number 3 of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Russell Camilleri and Owen Theuma Fontebrera read a number of quotes by some well-known educators while Sean Farrugia read excerpt from The Prophet a writing by Khalil Gibran.
The audience was then addressed first by Mr Ruben Pace, Chairperson or our school’s Board of Directors and Mr Ray D’Amato, Headmaster. The Headmaster then invited Mr Pace to distribute the Diplomas to the students, a certificate that reflects all the results the students obtained during their five-year study programme at our school.
On a lighter note, the last item before the reception was a visual presentation made up from a compilation of photos, depicting the various events this particular group of students lived, between Form 1 and Form 5.
It was really nice, and at times moving, to see the students, their parents and many members of the staff, enjoying themselves together in the school garden as one big family.
We would like to thank in a special way Mr Martin Abela our school secretary and the clerk, Ms Janet Agius, for their meticulous work in preparing all the data which served for the compilation of the School Profile and Certificate and the diploma. We also thank Mr Robert Aloisio who coordinated this celebration.
