A group of eleven 4th Formers together with two members of the staff left Malta on Sunday 17th March to take part in a French language workshop in a secondary school, in Dijon, France.
During this week, our students will be offered six intensive language sessions that are to be held during the morning hours. In the afternoon, the group will be visiting a number of cultural and historic sites together with other sports and social activities.
On Thursday 14th March between 8.00 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. and on Friday 15th between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., the parents of our students were invited to come to school to discuss their son's Half Yearly Examinations results and progress. It was a great pleasure to see parents walking the school's corridors, going from one class to another to meet the teachers.
The parents of 295 (98.7%) students (Form 1 up to Form 4) out of 299 attended one of the sessions.
Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born in Buenos Aires, one of the five children of Italian immigrants, railway worker Mario Jose Bergoglio and Regina Maria Sivori, a housewife. As a teenager, Bergoglio had a lung removed as a result of an infection.
He received a master's degree in Chemistry at the University of Buenos Aires, and then studied at the seminary in Villa Devoto. He entered the Society of Jesus on 11 March 1958.
On Tuesday 5th February at 2.45 p.m. the results of the Half Yearly Examinations were posted. It was a relatively long process of correcting, checking, inputting marks, printing and enveloping. Thanks to our teachers and secretarial staff, this laborious exercise was completed as scheduled.
Our marathon walk comes as a fitting conclusion after two weeks of Half-Yearly examinations. As this day is scheduled in our school calendar from early September, we are always playing a little gamble with the weather. In fact the Headmaster had to prepare our students that the Marathon will go ahead, weather permitting, otherwise we have to postpone. This year winter was both cold and wet, yet on the day of our walk, the weather was simply marvellous, in reality we couldn’t ask for any better.
