exhibition___get-together.JPG

After the third meeting with our partners, which was held in Carpentras, France, we are almost halfway through our Comenius project, “Together Against Violence”.

A group of two teachers and seven students left for Marseille on May 21 in the afternoon to discuss with our French and Spanish partners how to address the issue of school violence on the basis of the questionnaire results that have been analysed during the meeting in Malta. During their stay, they had the opportunity to attend lessons with their hosts, discuss in groups and train rugby together. The visit was concluded on Thursday evening with the opening of the touring exhibition that started in Malta last March and a get-together for the participants and the French families. During the visit, the schedule for next year has been drawn up.

The Sixth EkoSkola Parliament Session

It is often heard that children should listen more to their parents, guardians and teachers. However, today’s Parliamentary session was contrary to this custom. Students from various State and Church Primary and Secondary schools participated in the sixth EkoSkola Parliament session, accompanied by several Members of Parliament from both political parties.

Adrian Farrugia and Stephan Zammit, both Form 4 Science students, presented a brief description on the Air Quality Monitoring project which was conducted in our school earlier this year and which also won the NSTF Young Scientist Competition. They also proposed a number of concrete and practical ways how to improve the air quality in the school’s vicinity and perhaps all over Malta as well.

This is just but a small taste of our daily life at St Michael's. On Sunday 23rd day, however, St Michael School opened its doors to the general public and invited everyone to witness the fantastic work that goes on in our school throughout the whole year. Without any doubt, the Open Day has become an annual event in our school calendar which students and parents alike look forward to.

The builders have now picked pace. During these last five weeks, works have continued on the second phase of the new extension with the sketching, planning and building in shell form of the three science laboratories that we intend of completing by mid-June. Actually, when one looks at the works both from the school grounds and from Triq il-Palazz l-Aħmar, one can see that the structure is very well defined.

Awards Celebration

As the Auditorium at the SDC Central House in Blata l-Bajda was filling up, one could notice an amount of commotion going around, as the finishing touches were being put in place before the commencement of this year's Awards Ceremony.

This is one of the formal moments when the school meets as one big family to give credit to the different abilities our students are endowed with. It is also an occasion when we look at the diary of events lived by the school within a scholastic year, and finally to award all those students who successfully achieved a particular goal they aimed for.
