The European Commission Representation in Malta invited Mr Anthony Caruana, Assistant Headmaster and our EU Projects Coordinator for a two day information visit to Brussels between the 14th and 16th February.
On Monday the programme will include the following meetings:
A presentation by Mr. Jaime ANDREU (Head of Unit: Visits to the Commission) on the Political Priorities of the Barroso II Commission
A presentation by Mr. Johannes GEHRINGER Directorate-General: Education and Culture on the theme: Higher education; "Erasmus" The Erasmus Programme.
A presentation by Mr. Jo VANDER CAPPELLEN, Member of the External Speakers Team on the different roles of the European Institutions (including the Lisbon Treaty) with a special emphasis on the Commission.
Lunch will be presided by Commissioner John Dalli our newly appointed Commissioner for Health and Consumer protection.
In the afternoon, the group will then take part in the following meetings:
A presentation by Ms Peggy GENEVE Programme Manager Unit: Youth in Action Directorate-General: Education and Culture about: The European Voluntary Service
A presentation by Mr. Egil EIENE Programme Manager Unit: School education, Comenius Directorate-General: Education and Culture Policy Priorities on Comenius Central Actions.
On Tuesday, the group will attend the following sessions:
A visit to the European Parliament (organised by the Representation in Valletta)
A presentation by Ms. Barbara ZUPAN Policy Officer Unit: Youth Policy Directorate-General: Education and Culture on: The New EU Youth Strategy
The group will lunch at the Brasserie Le Foyer in the rue van Maerlant 2 where they'll have lunch (invitation of the European Commission).
The group will then have some free hours in the afternoon before their return to Malta late in the evening.
