The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 20th November 1989, a day celebrated annually as Universal Children’s Day.
This celebration presents an ideal occasion for a school or class to celebrate and investigate children’s rights. Article 42 of the convention places a duty on governments, and adults too, to teach children about their rights. This can also be a time for research and reflection on how far children’s rights are respected and protected around the world.
