On Friday, 15th January our school received the award for classifying in the second place in the Secondary Student Councils Democracy Awards (SCDA) which was launched for the first time in scholastic year 2019/2020.
Mr Simon Schembri, Manager from Aġenzija Żgħażagħ presented the prize to Kurt Caruana (president), Luke Cachia Enriquez (vice president) and Luke Buttigieg (relations officer). All these students formed part of our School Council.
In January 2020, the Council participated in a seminar about democracy organized by the same agency. Many ideas emerged and the Council held discussions about the subject and also welcomed suggestions. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the closure of schools these initiatives had to stop abruptly.
Despite the fact that our school Council only worked for a few months, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ felt that our students still had to be awarded for their dedicated work and effort.
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank Aġenzija Żgħażagħ for their initiative to involve and urge youths to participate in these activities. Congratulations also to our Council for their work towards their fellow students. Last but not least, a big thank you to Mr Johann Tabone for coordinating this Council and for his continuous work and support towards the older students in our school.
