The students and all members of staff were waiting for the President in the school hall.  The program started with the Hymn “Fil-Ħlewwa ta’ Mejju”.  After a welcome address by Mr Simon Camilleri, Luke Cachia Enriquez and Matthew Sciberras, the two youngest students of the school, read a message on behalf of all the students followed by the school anthem.

Mr D’Amato also delivered a short speech.  He spoke about the apostolate work of Dun Gorg Preca in the beginning of the 20th century to teach the Maltese people, the effort of Mr Anthony Agius when he founded St Michael School, and the contribution to education that the school gave during the last seventy years to hundreds of youths and children.
