On Wednesday, 7th October 2020, St Michael School welcomed the new Form 1 students after seven months of absence from the school environment due to the situation of Covid-19. At around 6.45am the students started to gather in the school ground and at 8am Fr Carl Sultana celebrated mass in the school hall. During mass we celebrated the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Together we prayed to Our Lady to bless us during this difficult time. The school band composed of teachers animated this first mass for our new students.
The Headmaster then addressed the students by welcoming them to our school and emphasised the importance of education and respect at school and everywhere else. Mr Johann Tabone, one of our Assistant Heads explained the security measures we adopted as a school and later invited the students who were divided in groups of 9 and guided by a teacher, to go for a tour around the school to familiarise themselves and meet teachers and other members of staff.
After a short break, Mr Simon Camillieri, another Assistant Head at school, together with the Guidance team explained their service to the students. To end their first day the students were shown a slide show with photos of the various activities that the school organises throughout the year. They also sung the school anthem all together. To top it up the students were treated to an ice-cream in the school ground.
Let us keep abiding by the rules of mitigation and hygiene so we can all stay safe and enjoy school during this particular time.
